Heart is among the acts taking the stage at the 42nd annual Bumbershoot Festival, which takes place at the Seattle Center in Washington from August 31 to September 2. The recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees take the stage on Saturday, August 31. The fest, featuring over 100 acts in all, typically draws a crowd of 100,000 or so.

Several guitarists have paid tribute to the late Jeff Hanneman, founding member of Slayer and heavy metal guitar hero. Hanneman died of liver failure last week at the age of 49. Slash hit Twitter, clearly surprised and upset by the news: "Tragic & shocking news about Jeff Hanneman. He is going to missed by so many. What a sad day for metal. RIP man."

Aerosmith Calls Off Concert Due To Bomb Threat »
Aerosmith canceled a concert in Jakarta, Indonesia on May 4 following reports of a bomb threat in the capital city. Rolling Stone magazine reports that the band made the decision after the government announced the arrest of two militants engaged in a plot to bomb the Myanmar Embassy. Management for the group made a formal apology via Ismaya Live, the event's promoter.

Saddened by the loss of country legend George Jones, Keith Richards took the time to write a remembrance, noting Jones' impact on music and on him personally. The Rolling Stones guitarist said that Jones was "as crazy as me . . . just as free, and, oh boy, could he hang." He added that contemporary music would not be the same without his influence.

Iggy and the Stooges stopped by The Colbert Report studios to play the single "Job" from their latest effort, Ready to Die. The band also did an encore performance of "Burn," available at the Comedy Central website. In addition to the tracks, Iggy Pop sat down with Steven Colbert for a brief interview.
