Frank Zappa Statue To Be Unveiled In Hometown Of Baltimore

An unveiling of a statue dedicated to the late Frank Zappa will take place in his hometown of Baltimore, Maryland in September, where it will be featured during a week of events to celebrate his life.

One of the events featured will be a concert by Zappa's son, Dweezil. The statue itself is being placed at the Southeast Anchor Library in Highlandtown.

The statue was dedicated by a Zappa fan club in Lithuania.

The unveiling has been set for September 19.

"Frank's legacy rests in his uncompromising defense of the First Amendment and his uncompromising pursuit of excellence clearly demonstrated in the standards he set in all areas of music and the arts and sciences associated with it," Zappa's widow, Gail, said in a statement.
