Rare Beatles Poster Fetches £27,500 At Auction

A rare Beatles poster, advertising a November 30, 1962 show at Liverpool's Cavern Club, sold for £27,500 ($42,300) at London auction house Christie's.

The poster advertises a "Friday Lunchtime" gig at which the Fab Four performed two sets - one at 12:20 PM, another at 1:40 PM. The group was joined by another dubbed Pete Maclaine and the Dakotas. "Come Along Early!" urges the advertisement.

According to the auction house, it is likely the only poster of its kind to survive:

"This is the only known copy of this poster. Posters from this period in the Beatles' history are exceptionally rare and only a handful of posters documenting their appearances at the Cavern Club are known to be in existence."

The Beatles are said to have played nearly 300 times at the Cavern Club between 1961 and 1963.
