Paul McCartney Performs At Apollo Benefit In East Hamptons
Paul McCartney made a special appearance at the the third annual Apollo Theater fundraiser/concert this past weekend. The benefit was hosted at the Hamptons home of MacAndrews & Forbes honcho Ron Perelman and reportedly cost $5,000 a head.
The former Beatle surprised the exclusive gathering with his appearance and sang "Twist and Shout" with a little help from the Isley Brothers.
The event, featuring performances by Jennifer Hudson, Leah Labelle, and Jon Bon Jovi, was directed by Pharrell Williams.
Other well-known New Yorkers turned out to support the Apollo, including NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly and his wife Veronica, Barry Manilow, Donna Karan, celebrity hairdresser Sally Hershberger and Red Rooster restauranteur Marcus Samuelsson, among others
The benefit drew 260 guests and raised more than $2 million for the theater.
