Beatles And Doors' Music Played On Mars During NASA Mission
In addition to its ability to shoot lasers and scour for signs of life, Curiosity, NASA Mars rover, is engineered to play music when it is activated each morning.
According to NASA employee Eric Blood, its "wake-up calls" include tracks from the Beatles, the Doors and Anthrax, in addition to several others.
Blood said the robot was "less cranky with a good wake-up song."
So far several tracks have been used including the Fab Four's "Good Morning Good Morning," Anthrax's "Got the Time," the Doors' "Break on Through" and Frank Sinatra's "Come Fly with Me." The theme for Mission: Impossible and Richard Wagner's classical composition, "The Ride of the Valkyries" as well as the theme track from the film Star Wars have also been used.
