Bob Dylan Releases New Track 'Duquesne Whistle'
Bob Dylan has released "Duquesne Whistle," the first track from his forthcoming album, Tempest. The track begins with a ragtime jam, which picks up when Dylan announces "Listen to that Duquesne whistle blowing" in a gruff voice.
The instrumentation on the track features electric guitar, organ, spare drums and a busy bass.
"I wanted to make something more religious," Dylan told Rolling Stone of the new album. "I just didn't have enough [religious songs]. Intentionally, specifically religious songs is what I wanted to do. That takes a lot more concentration to pull that off 10 times with the same thread - than it does with a record like I ended up with."
The Tempest was recorded in Jackson Browne's studio in L.A. with Dylan's touring band; it is due on September 11.
