Eric Clapton Promises New Album And Tour In 2013
In a post to his official website, Eric Clapton unveiled plans for a new studio album and a series of performances next year, his 50th anniversary as a professional musician.
The performances are seven in number and begin on May 13 at Birmingham, U.K.'s LG Arena. Another date follows on the next day at Manchester's Manchester Arena. Finally, there are five dates scheduled (May 17, 18, 20, 21, 23) at London's Royal Albert Hall.
"Clapton has assembled an impressive band for the 2013 dates which will consist of long-time touring partners: Doyle Bramhall II (guitar), Steve Jordan (drums), Chris Stainton (piano and keyboards), and Willie Weeks (bass), along with newcomers Paul Carrack (organ and keyboards) and Greg Leisz (pedal steel guitar). Michelle John and Sharon White will join the touring band again as backing vocalists," according to the statement.
