Alpha Walker and Tamara Diaz, the couple charged with attempting to extort $5 million from Stevie Wonder, have been released from prison after reaching a plea deal with prosecutors. The couple were arrested in May after creating 80-min video bashing the soul legend and then trying to sell it.
The pair were sentenced to 292 days in prison as well as three years of probation. They were released on time served but have been ordered to have no contact with Stevie or any of his direct associates. Walker was additionally assigned to seek mental health treatment while Diaz must undergo drug counseling.
The pair's attorney Ian Wallach released an official statement about the plea deal, saying prosecutors were struggling to prove that his clients had, in fact, attempted to commit extortion.
