An iconic sign from David Bowie's The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars album cover will be displayed publicly for the first time in 30 years in November. The Heddon Street K. West sign is part of a major exhibition of vintage posters and memorabilia from the 1970s era that is taking place in London.
The sign itself appears above Bowie on the album cover, which was a photograph taken by Brian Ward. Countless fans have recreated Bowie's iconic pose in the original location, but without the sign in the background. After the original photo was taken, the sign was removed, but eventually rescued by a music industry veteran.
The exhibition will take place at The Movie Poster Art Gallery in London from Saturday, November 17 until Saturday, December 1. Admission is free.
