The Beatles Live! Project - an effort to unearth live, fan-shot footage recorded during the Beatlemania period of the band's career - launched late last week.
"The Beatles Live! Project is a collaborative global quest to find and reveal hidden films, sound recordings, stories, photographs, and other media artifacts that were captured during The Beatles' concert tours. The best media and stories that we find will be showcased in a planned feature film about The Beatles' concert tours," according to the project website.
The Beatlemania period extends from October 16, 1963 (the day the term was coined) to August 29, 1966, when the Beatles performed their final concert at Candlestick Park. During those years, the band played over 250 concerts in 116 cities and 18 countries.
Fans can submit footage or stories to the project's website (thebeatlesliveproject.com).
