David Bowie has released his first new music in ten years with the single "Where Are We Now?" Bowie has not performed live since 2006, a state of affairs which has led to speculation regarding his health.
According to NBC News, the Tony Visconti-produced (Space Oddity, The Man Who Sold the World) track "has the sound and sentiment of an elegiac lament, while the haunting video, directed by venerated artist-sculptor Tony Oursler, references Bowie's time in Berlin."
The Telegraph adds that "the single shows that Bowie's great baritone has gone a little bit and it is replaced by an older, more delicate, pleading voice."
"Where Are We Now?" is available now at iTunes. It is the lead single from his newest album, The Next Day, due in March. Pre-orders for the LP are available now.
