The Who recently had to call in a backup drummer when normal touring stickman Zak Starkey fell suddenly ill before a Quadrophenia show at San Diego's Valley View Casino Center on February 5.
When Ringo's son fell under the weather, the band made the call to Scott Devours, who played with Roger Daltrey on his recent Tommy tour. The band hit its website after the show to thank Devours:
"Scott was magnificent. He played the whole of Quadrophenia note perfectly with only a two-hour run through to the delight of everyone - onstage and off. Scott performed the 'greatest hits' encore with no rehearsal at all."
Daltrey added: "Quadrophenia's not an easy piece. To do what Scotty did took real guts."
