The recent collaborative effort between Elvis Costello and the Roots is 'brilliant,' according to the latter band's drummer Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson.
Quest, whose group is also the house band on Jimmy Fallon's late night program, said the collab grew out of Costello's appearances thereon:
"After [his] third appearance, we liked him so much we were like, 'Hey why don't we make a record?'" Questlove told Rolling Stone.
"What went from being one song to be released on Record Store Day became 'Why don't we try four songs?' Now we have a brilliant album."
Questlove added that the full length, which is nearly complete, is scheduled to arrive in stores in time for Record Store Day on April 20. No further details on the new LP have been announced yet.
"In the whole history of the Roots, I have never bragged on an album first, but I actually love this record," he added.
