The original members of Kansas are reportedly set to reunite for a one-off gig in Pittsburgh on August 17. Kerry Livgren, Dave Hope, Robby Steinhardt and Phil Ehart will take the stage in a city that has a special meaning for the band.
"Pittsburgh and the whole state of Pennsylvania discovered the band first. We came here in the early days and it was like our home from home," drummer Ehart told Classic Rock magazine.
According to Ehart, the show will take place in two sections, the first with a 35-piece orchestra, the second, a more stripped-back rock set:
"We do a symphony set then we do a regular set," he said. "And in the meantime we have Dave, Kerry and Robby playing on different songs with the current band throughout the whole show. We've got some great stuff planned for the intermission too - it's gonna rock."
The event is in celebration of the band's 40th anniversary.
