Axl Rose is facing a lawsuit from an Australian fan who claims he was severely injured when a microphone flew off the stage and hit him in the mouth at a show in Perth. The incident occurred on March 9 and the plaintiff, Darren Wright, says he hardly knew what hit him.
"I was quite stunned and it took a few seconds to realize what was going on," he told the West Australian. "I could feel bits of teeth in my mouth. Then someone is climbing through my legs to grab the microphone."
He adds: "Those cordless microphones are not light. I'm surprised it didn't do more damage. At the very least, I want someone to pay to get my teeth fixed."
Wright allows that Axl did not mean to hit him but says the band's offer of restitution, an autographed microphone, is not good enough:
"In reality I don't think the microphone is going to fix my teeth or pay for the dentist," he said. "I'm a father of four on a single income doing it hard in Perth."
