Pink Floyd is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the band's 1973 smash, The Dark Side of the Moon, by streaming the album in its entirety on their official website. The broadcast begins at 7:01 p.m. EST on Saturday, March 23.
The band is encouraging fans to listen together, while posting relevant comments, pics and reminiscences to Twitter with the hashtag, #DarkSide40. As the tweets pile up, an image of the moon on the band's site will gradually grow darker.
Also in conjunction with the anniversary, newly minted variations on designer Storm Thorgerson's prism design will be unveiled daily at the website through March 24 - the day the album was released 40 years ago.
The designs will eventually be combined to form a digital poster that fans can download.
