Library Of Congress Adds Dark Side Of The Moon

The Library of Congress has added Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon to its Recording Preservation Registry. The album is celebrating the 40th anny of its release this month.

"The album is notable for the close vocal harmonies of Richard Wright and David Gilmour and for the double tracking of voices and guitars," said the LOC in a statement noting the addition of the LP.

"More unusual effects include the flanged choir in 'Time,' the precisely placed delays in 'Us and Them,' and a tape loop at the beginning of 'Money' that was so long a microphone stand had to be used to hold it up."

Each year the LOC adds 25 albums to the National Registry. Other artists included this year are Will Rogers, Chubby Checkers, Janis Joplin and the Ramones.
