An autographed copy of the Beatles' 1967 album, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band has sold for $290,500, according to Heritage Auctions, the firm that handled bids for the record.
Heritage noted that the LP, expected to fetch about $30,000, was signed by all four members of the Fab Four. It might seem like a hefty chunk of change to some, but Perry Cox, author of The Official Beatles Price Guide, told Ultimate Classic Rock that the album may be a good investment:
"With my being thoroughly immersed in Beatles collectibles for over 30 years, it takes something extraordinarily special to excite me," he said. "I consider this to be one of the top two items of Beatles memorabilia I've ever seen - the other being a signed copy of Meet the Beatles."
