According to London's bookies, David Bowie, who released his latest album The Next Day last month, is the early odds-on favorite to win the prestigious Mercury Music Prize.
Paddy Power, a prominent bookmaker, puts Bowie's chances at 7/2, while Foals' Holy Fire follows close behind at 14/1, and Laura Marling's Once I Was an Eagle took 16/1 odds.
Others to make the list include Biffy Clyro, the Joy Formidable, Chvrches, Tom Odell, Everything Everything, Hurts, Noah & the Whale, I Am Kloot, Sterophonics, Savages, Alice Russell, New Order, Goldfrapp, Suede, Example, Johnny Marr, Bullet for My Valentine and the Courteeners.
Nominations for the Mercury Music Prize 2013 will be announced on September 10. Alt-J took home the 2012 prize for their album, An Awesome Wave.
