Pink Floyd Producer Reveals He Tried To Get Band To Rap

Bob Ezrin, the producer behind Pink Floyd's A Momentary Lapse of Reason, has revealed that he tried to get the band to rap on that album.

Ezrin said that, at the time of the album's recording in 1987, "I became fascinated with rap - I'm an early adopter. I brought some in when we were doing A Momentary Lapse Of Reason. I brought some to David Gilmour, going, 'Boy, I think this stuff with a rock beat would be awesome.'"

He noted, however, that Gilmour did not agree with him: "He said, 'Oh my God, that would be terrible!' He couldn't believe it. He hated the idea."

As a result, Ezrin noted, their 1987 album-their first without Roger Waters-did not include any rap or rap influences.
