Journey guitarist Neal Schon has won an apology from the Daily Mail newspaper for a story it reported, claiming that he left his ex-wife and daughters impoverished while lavishing expensive gifts on his fiancee, former Real Housewives of D.C. star Michaele Salahi.
The paper posted the apology to its website on April 4, marking the first time it has issued such an online apology on its homepage.
"On 22 February we published an article about Journey guitarist Neal Schon and his fiancée Michaele Salahi," the apology read.
"It claimed falsely that Mr. Schon was a deadbeat dad and repeated allegations that he had neglected his ex-wife and two young children. We accept that these allegations are untrue and apologise to Mr Schon, Ms Salahi and the family for any distress caused."
The original story was based on statements posted online by Judy Kozan, Schon's former mother-in-law, who wrote on an internet blog that the guitarist was putting his ex-wife Amber in "a situation where she literally has no money for food, gas for the car, bills, nothing."
