Storm Thorgerson, Designer For Pink Floyd And Led Zeppelin, Dead At 69

Storm Thorgerson, who designed rock album covers for the likes of Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Peter Gabriel and Muse, has passed away at the age of 69. The BBC reports that Thorgerson had a lengthy battle with cancer prior to his death.

Floyd, whose Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here covers are perhaps Thorgerson's most recognizable pieces, released a statement of condolence to their website:

"We are saddened by the news that longtime Pink Floyd graphic genius, friend and collaborator, Storm Thorgerson, has died. Our thoughts are with his family and many friends."

David Gilmour added that Storm's work was "an inseparable part of our work":

"He has been a constant force in my life, both at work and in private, a shoulder to cry on and a great friend. I will miss him."
