Billy Joel showed up at the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in Queens to chat with students and perform two of his most beloved hits-"New York State of Mind" and "She's Got a Way."
"My biggest mistake was signing a lot of contracts that I didn't know what they were about," Joel said during a Q&A bit. "I signed away a lot of my rights - record royalties, publishing rights, copyrights and it took me years to get that stuff back."
All in all, Joel said he's satisfied with his career, telling students there's nothing else he could have done:
"If I hadn't been able to be a musician at all, I probably would have gone insane."
The Frank Sinatra School of the Arts was founded by Tony Bennett in 2001. The legendary crooner also introduced Joel for the session.
