Peter Frampton Opens Up About Guitar Circus Tour

Peter Frampton has opened up about the process of recording new music and his motivation for staging his latest tour, Guitar Circus.

The crooner, whose tour features guest appearances by B.B. King, Sonny Landreth and Robert Cray, explains that he enjoys the guitar-playing aspect of his music the most, telling the Tampa Bay Observer:

"People forget or don't realize that I was a guitarist first and then I became a singer. I never wanted to become a singer. I was a guitarist."

He also talks about the growing importance of live albums during his career: "The funny thing is how it was back then. Live albums didn't count as part of your record deal but [his live album Frampton Comes Alive] turned my career around and I was told that wasn't part of my deal."

Frampton's Frampton Comes Alive spawned the hits "Baby, I Love Your Way" and "Do You Feel Like We Do," selling over 6 million copies in the United States. His most recent album is 2010's Thank You, Mr. Churchill.
