Tom Petty was as confused as his fans when a concert at the Henry Fonda Theater in Hollywood was shut down by the Fire Marshall over the weekend.
On his website, Petty now explains that the venue did not sell too many tickets, as was first thought - but that there were too many people on the floor section who had wandered down there from their assigned section.
"Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and our representatives rely on the concert promoter and venue representatives to give us an accurate breakdown of the legal capacity for every part of the building and to provide security and other staff to enforce this," the statement said. "We are still investigating all details of last night's situation and will keep you informed."
Petty previously reassured fans that he would reimburse them from his own pocket if he had to.
