Cheap Trick Sued By Drummer And Former Manager

Bun E. Carlos and David Frey, the former drummer and manager for Cheap Trick, have filed separate lawsuits against the band.

In his suit, Carlos' attorney says that Trick does not recognize that he is still part of the band and owes him compensation in light of the ignorance of that fact.

"Carlos is no longer required to participate in live performances by the band, but remains a full member of the band," the suit begins.

It adds that Cheap Trick is bilking Carlos of money "by, among other things, refusing to allow Carlos to participate in any of the activities of the band (including the recording of a new studio album), entering into numerous contracts on behalf of the Cheap Trick Companies without Carlos's consent and otherwise preventing Carlos from participating in the management and operations of the Cheap Trick Companies."

Frey meanwhile claims the band owes him $350,000 in connection with the 2011 Ottawa Bluesfest stage collapse. For their part, Cheap Trick has sued organizers of the fest for $1 million.
