Jon Bon Jovi has been tapped as one of the celebs who will help promote the upcoming health care reforms known as Obamacare. The changes to insurance policies will go into effect October 1, prompting the White House to release an official statement on its plans to connect with celebrities in a promotional push.
"The President [met with] artists who expressed an interest in helping to educate the public about the benefits of the health law," a White House official said.
"The reach of these national stars spreads beyond the beltway to fans of their television shows, movies, and music - and the power of these artists to speak through social media is especially critical."
Jon will join a host of other celebs helping plug the changes, including Oprah Winfrey and Alicia Keys; media outlets like YouTube and Funny or Die will also join the effort.
"President Obama underscored that the efforts of these artists will be especially helpful since young uninsured Americans (ages 18-35) are key enrollment targets for the new marketplaces," the official added.
