A never before seen photograph of Paul McCartney and John Lennon has surfaced. The image shows the legendary songwriting team at Abbey Road studio, while allegedly recording a take of "The Ballad of John and Yoko" in 1969.
The photo was released by Dean Johnson, a journalist who covered the heyday of 1960s London pop. Lennon and McCartney are pictured in the studio both wearing headphones and standing in front of a vocal microphone. A set of feet, supposedly Yoko Ono's, are also in the foreground, suggesting she shot the picture.
The image is included in Johnson's new book The Beatles And Me; he speaks on the pic in the book:
"'The Ballad of John and Yoko' was a unique session as only John and Paul took part and, in a way, was a sad epitaph to the greatest musical partnership in pop history."
