Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are back in the studio working on a new album. Petty recently sat down with Rolling Stone magazine to update fans on the LP's progress:
"We're nearly done with it," he said, adding some details on what to expect: "I always say this, but I'm tremendously excited for this one . . . It's morphed into songs we would've written around Wildflowers or Damn the Torpedoes, but much more distorted."
He added that he's not trying to over think his approach to music these days:
"Lately, I just roll in, play the song on the guitar, and they just fall in and we work it out. Usually, the first few takes are the best . . . I think people are going to like it."
Petty previously said that the album would be released sometime in 2013.
