Joan Jett is set to make her return to the music world on October 1 with the release of Unvarnished, an album she says contains some of her most personal work.
"I wrote a lot about what teenagers write about: love, sex and partying and having a good time," she tells Rolling Stone. "As you grow up, things change."
"You have responsibilities and realize you've got to do stuff. I suppose you could run from that, but you've got to be there for your family and your friends," she added.
Jett also revealed that recent the death of both of her parents proved difficult to cope with, feelings she both tackles and expresses on the LP.
Unvarnished will be Jett's first studio album in seven years, her tenth overall, and first since 2006's Sinner.
