Cheap Trick Countersue Bun E. Carlos

Bun E. Carlos, former drummer for Cheap Trick, has been countersued by his old bandmates, following a lawsuit he brought against them.

Richard Nielsen, Thomas Peterson and Robin Zander have asked a judge to confirm that Carlos was validly removed from the board of Cheap Trick Unlimited Inc. and two other band-related corporations.

In his suit, Carlos' attorney says that Cheap Trick does not recognize that he is still part of the band and owes him compensation in light of their ignorance of that fact.

It claims that Cheap Trick is bilking Carlos of money "by, among other things, refusing to allow Carlos to participate in any of the activities of the band (including the recording of a new studio album), entering into numerous contracts on behalf of the Cheap Trick Companies without Carlos's consent and otherwise preventing Carlos from participating in the management and operations of the Cheap Trick Companies."

In 2010, CT announced that Carlos would no longer tour with the band, while remaining a member of the group--a confusing designation that appears to have set the current legal wrangling in motion.
