Elton John To Pay Tribute To Liberace At Emmy Awards

Elton John has confirmed plans to play a special tribute to legendary singer-songwriter Liberace at the Emmy Awards. The tribute will come on the same night that the Liberace biopic Behind the Candelabra will compete for 15 awards.

The film's two stars, Matt Damon and Michael Douglas, will compete against each other for Best Leading Actor Emmys. They played the roles of Liberace's lover Scott Thorson and the singer, respectively.

The tribute also comes at a busy time for Elton, who recently released his new studio set "The Diving Board" while also lending a hand to help his husband David Furnish's new champagne bar. Furnish is planning on opening the lounge at Las Vegas' Caesars Palace.

The new bar, called Fizz, is expected to open this fall adjacent to Caesars Forum Casino. It will be built between the Colosseum and the nearby entrance to the Forum Shops. The lounge will feature high-end champagnes by the glass, along with a range of cocktails.
