Sting's The Last Ship Headed To Broadway

Sting's musical, The Last Ship, is headed to Broadway in the fall of 2014, after a brief summer run in Chicago. The semi-autobiographical plot is centered on a man named Gideon who leaves his small shipbuilding town, only to return years later, finding it in ruins.

"The memories at the heart of The Last Ship have occupied my mind for most of my life," explained Sting in a press release.

"I was compelled to tell this story, and I've had the great fortune of collaborating with an enormously talented team."

Sting collaborated on the project with playwright Brian Yorkey and writer John Logan. Joe Mantello (Wicked) directs. Casting and venue details have yet to be released.

The former Police fronter also has an album version of the musical due in stores on September 24.
