Recently retired Nazareth front man Dan McCafferty has offered his appreciation to fans who have supported him throughout his time with the band. In a post to the Nazareth website, McCafferty said he retired due only to his health, and that he will miss the music dearly.
"I would like to thank you all for the support and fun you have given me for the past 40+ some odd years," McCafferty wrote. "I am so sorry my health has forced me to stop touring, but I hope Nazareth can continue with a new singer and that you will support him as you did me."
The band reportedly offered Dan's spot to former guitarist Billy Rankin, who respectfully declined, saying: "I can't win with the fans, or the bottles I'd have to dodge"
