Rod Stewart was the first artist to take the stage at Glasgow, Scotland's new SSE Hydro venue. The city's so-called "live entertainment destination," holds over 12,000, and had Rod musing on the right way to open it:
"How do they test it?" Stewart asked from the stage. "Do they get thousands of people to come and sit in it? I was up all night thinking about it."
The band then launched into a rowdy version of "Rhythm of My Heart," complete with an ear shattering bagpipe section. "At least the building hasn't fallen down yet," Rod said after the lively rendition.
The Herald Scotland, which praised Stewart's performance of his classics, said the highlight of the night was his new stuff:
"The most interesting part of the evening, however, was Stewart's material from Time, his current album release."
Time hit earlier this summer.
