The Australian government is looking to get the Rolling Stones to play a gig at its newly renovated Adelaide Oval venue. The arena, which recently sucked up $500 million in repair money, holds up to 70,000.
Speaking with the Advertiser, Premier Jay Weatherill said nothing is set in stone:
"There is a lot of speculation about the opening of Adelaide Oval but at this stage it is just speculation."
Music industry sources told the publication that the government would have to add several million dollars in sweetener money-on top of sky high ticket prices-in order to lure the aged rockers.
Should the band decide to take on the gig, it would be the first music event to take place at the Adelaide Oval. Reps for the Stones did not comment on the report.
