Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson is featured in a new commercial for the Kidney Foundation of Canada. Lifeson, who lost his father to kidney disease, talks about the dangers of kidney failure and urges viewers to understand the importance of preventive measures.
Speaking to the camera, the guitarist says: "A little over 10 years ago, my father passed away after two very difficult years of failing health. Both his kidneys ceased to operate, and he was on dialysis for over two years."
Lifeson continued: "Many times, he was nearly lost during his dialysis and it was heartbreaking to watch his demise, and that's why this is especially important to me."
Last month, Lifeson teamed up with the Kidney Foundation to sell a limited-edition series of art prints entitled "Sunflowers," in order to raise money to aid in kidney research and treatment.
