John Lennon's first home, 9 Newcastle Road in Wavertree, Liverpool, will hit the auction block at the city's Cavern Club on October 29. The late Beatle lived in the house from his birth (October 9, 1940) until the age of five.
The house's current owner released a statement, saying he's looking for something with a bigger yard:
"I'll be sad to leave John Lennon's first home but I am retired now and would really like a property with a bigger garden. I have made sure original features have been preserved so that they reflect the 1960s period, when the Beatles wowed the whole world with their rock and roll music."
The modest home - which boasts three bedrooms, a lounge, rear lounge, kitchen and a family bathroom - is expected to fetch between $225,000 and $375,000 at auction.
