A Keith Richards fan was discovered to be making a bomb for the Rolling Stones guitarist.
The discovery was made by police last week, when they were called to the mansion of 69-year-old retired chemist Joseph Callahan in Greenfield Hill, Connecticut following a break-in call.
While at the residence, police officers found over 100 pounds of ammonium nitrate, detonation cords, explosives and an arsenal of weapons.
When questioned, Callahan said he was planning on giving a bomb to Richards, but that he did not intend to harm him, and he added that he did not remember if he had attached the bomb's fuse. He was arrested and held for 72 hours before being charged with 112 counts of illegal possession of explosives, as well as reckless endangerment and bomb manufacture, after which he was released on his own recognizance.
His lawyer, Richard Meehan, noted of Callahan: "He is a delightful gentleman who never had any intention to make a bomb and never intended to hurt anybody."
Callahan lives 10 miles from Richards, who has a home in Weston, Connecticut.
