Billy Joel shocked fans with a performance at a relatively small venue in Long Island earlier this month. The "Piano Man" played some rare tracks in his show at Huntington, New York's Paramount Theater, where he warmed up for an upcoming European tour.
"We're not going to play all hits tonight," he said to the audience onstage. "I'm tired of that sh*t. We want to mix in some other stuff that we haven't done for a long time."
He proceeded to play a host of rare cuts throughout the night, including "Stop in Nevada" from Piano Man, which he introduced with a brief story:
"I moved out to California and was there for three years. I'd go into the mountains and I was into this whole country thing and western thing and I decided to try and write a song like one of those songs."
