Billy Joel will give his first ever performance at Brooklyn's Barclays Center on New Year's Eve. The New York native was born in the Bronx and raised in Hicksville, Long Island, but frequently visited his grandparents, who lived in the Flatbush area of Brooklyn.
The show will mark Billy's first arena performance in seven years. Tickets go on sale Nov. 9 at 10 AM.
Joel made recent headlines when he revealed that a young Pakistani girl helped him recover from a bout of depression. Speaking with the U.K.'s Telegraph, the singer said he has drawn inspiration from Malala Yousafzai, who was shot by the Taliban but has since recovered and travels the world speaking in support of women's educational initiatives.
"I was in New York on 9/11, and it had a devastating impact on me. It hit me like a ton of bricks. I went into a deep depression and started drinking. I lost faith in humanity," he said of his flirtation with darkness.
