Roger Waters Learns Details Of His Father's Death In WWII

Roger Waters says he has finally learned the details surrounding his father's death. The rocker had always known that his father was killed while serving in combat during World War II, but he recently learned more thanks to a British veteran and researcher.

Waters' father was serving in Italy when he was killed at around 11:30 a.m. February 18, 1944 during the Battle of Anzio. Roger's dad was apparantly killed while fighting in a bunker.

Waters learned the news from a researcher named Harry Shindler.

"It's very moving indeed," Shindler told the Telegraph. "I think Roger was grateful that I went to all this trouble to find where his father was killed."

Waters added: "Harry is such a remarkable man. This isn't a one-off for him. He has been doing it for years and years. He's made it his life's work to find out what happened to men who served."
