A rare David Bowie "Starman" single has sold for almost $2,000 on eBay.
The 45, which features "Starman" and "Suffragette City," was made in Angola as a very late addition to the 1972 release, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.
The winner of the bid paid $1,996.21 for the 45, which was printed because a label executive at the time thought it would make a great single, while introducing Bowie's latest persona.
"Starman" reached the top ten in the U.K. (and remained on the charts for three months), marking Bowie's first hit since "Space Oddity." A limited-edition seven-inch picture disc of "Starman" was also released last year as part of Record Store Day.
