Elton John's upcoming concerts in Russia could be called off by local officials if they deem that his performances will break their strict gay propaganda laws.
The Times reports that if officials suspect he's going to use his appearances to rail against Russia's new rulings, they will pull the plug. John has said that he wanted to perform in Russia to show support for the gay community.
"As a gay man, I can't leave those people on their own without going over there and supporting them. I don't know what's going to happen, but I've got to go," he said in the interview.
John has campaigned for gay rights in Britain and in the Ukraine where he was denied the right to adopt a child because of his age and marital status.
