Def Leppard's Phil Collen Talks New Project Delta Deep

Def Leppard's Phil Collen has announced his latest musical project, Delta Deep.

The guitarist has partnered with celebrity collaborators including Toto drummer Forrest Robinson, Stone Temple Pilots bassist Robert DeLeo, and singer Debbi Blackwell-Cook, who is the godmother of his wife, costume designer Helen L. Simmons. The project sees Collen exploring sounds from the American South.

Collen tweeted the news of the collaboration recently: "Got a great week of recording done with Debbi Blackwell-Cook. Delta Deep is sounding fantastic. Release should be sometime mid-2014."

Collen also revealed that he had been working on material with Blackwell-Cook informally before they realized that their shared love of blues and soul music could lead to a more extensive collaboration. He has since performed the new tracks "All I Wanna Do," "Muddy Water Blues," and "Burnt Sally" on RadioScreamer.com.
