The David Bowie retrospective exhibition, David Bowie Is, is set to open in Berlin, Germany, following its successful run at London's Victoria and Albert Museum last year.
Bowie lived in Berlin in the 70s, writing his Berlin Trilogy of albums there. The Berlin show will be adjusted to reflect this fact.
Bowie went to Berlin in the summer of 1976 in order to escape his fame, subsequently re-inventing himself musically. "Suddenly he was thinking differently in the way people saw him, communicating differently with the world," Geoffrey Marsh, director of the V&A's Department of Theatre and Performance and co-curator of David Bowie Is told the Guardian.
It opens on May 20 at the city's Martin-Gropius-Bau venue and runs until August 10.
