Roger Daltrey Says He Didn't Always Get The Who's Concept Albums

Roger Daltrey has opened up about the Who's penchant for releasing concept albums, saying that he hasn't always fully understood their deeper meaning. Speaking with Q magazine, he largely credited Pete Townshend for the band's conceptual direction.

"Did I have to ask him what the hell he was on about? All the time," Daltrey said.

And despite the often abstract themes in Who songs, Daltrey says Townshend would always give just enough logic for listeners to understand:

"But equally, there's always one sentence that comes out of that rambling brain of his that you can grasp. With Tommy it was: 'Imagine living life where you can only feel vibrations' and I could latch on to that."
