Ted Nugent Paid Over $16,000 Not To Perform In Texas Town

Ted Nugent was paid over $16,000 by a Texas town to keep him from playing their annual July 4 event. The town of Longview, Texas had apparently entered into negotiations with the Motor City Mad Man and waited until he was already under contract before deciding to pull the plug.

Town authorities were therefore on the hook for half of Nugent's performance fee.

A town rep spoke on the call to pay of the Nuge, saying they made it for a "variety of reasons":

"Cost, structure, is it the right musical act for this type of event - a city-sponsored, family-oriented overall event. They decided no, we don't want to move forward, it is not the right act for this. At that point we decided to end discussions."
