Elton John and David Furnish, who have been in a civil partnership for eight years, will wed in May, following the recent legalization of gay marriage in the U.K.
Speaking with the Las Vegas Review Journal, Furnish said that the ceremony would be small and include the two children - Elijah, 3, and Zachary, 16 months - of the couple.
"We don't feel the need to take an extra step legally," Furnish said. "But since we're committed for life, we feel it's really important to take that step, and take advantage of that amazing change in legislation. We all live by example."
In 2005, following the consecration of their civil union, the pair threw a $2 million reception.
"We do like big parties," Furnish added. "But with the kids, everything is different. I think what we'll do is go to a registry office in England in May, and take the boys with us, and a couple of witnesses."
