Billy Joel celebrated his 65th birthday in style, performing a set at Madison Square Garden. During the gig, Jimmy Fallon appeared on stage and sang "The Lion Sleeps Tonight," reprising a bit that took place on The Tonight Show in March.
Joel was in a festive mood throughout the set, pausing at one point to joke: "You're supposed to retire at this age. Or at least not have the name Billy."
After the show was over, a picture was tweeted of Joel backstage with Sting, Paul Rudd and Judd Apatow.
The show itself functioned as a benefit for the North Shore Animal League, a Long Island organization that has been rescuing and finding homes for pets since 1944.
